The sound works perfectly in my Mac OS X partition. I am well and truly stumped, and any help at all would make me extremely grateful. I have already tried rolling back a driver update, but to no avail, the sound still refuses to work. On further inspection, found in a small description box under 'Device status', was this: 'Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. So I opened up the Device Manager and under the title 'Sound, video and game controllers', there is a warning sign (small yellow triangle with black exclamation mark) beside the device 'Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 31)'. When I hover over said icon, the message, 'No Audio Output Device is installed.' This will silence the Mac and disable sound output as long as mute is enabled, but can be quickly undone and sound can return by un-muting again with the same keyboard button. In the bottom right of the screen where the audio icon is displayed, a small white cross inside of a circle is also displayed. Most Mac keyboards have a MUTE button, you can simply press that to mute all sound on the Mac. The partition has a 32-bit version of Windows Vista and everything is working fine, except the audio. I have recently made a partition using Boot Camp 3.1.
